Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies

Yield: Makes about 5 Dozen cookies

Ingredients

2-1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup oat bran
1 stick (1 cup) butter or margarine, softened
1 cup shortening
3 teaspoons water
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
1-1/2 cups chocolate chips

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375 F.

Combine flour, baking soda, salt and oat bran in small bowl.

Beat butter, shortening, water, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla in large mixing bowl until creamy. Add eggs and beat well. Gradually add flour mixture and stir to combine. Stir in chocolate chips.

Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto ungreased or parchment lined baking sheets. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand for 2 minutes; remove to wire rack to cool.
